Award-winning author Chuck Greaves returns with the rollicking sequel to his acclaimed debut novel, Hush Money. US Senate candidate Warren Burkett has a history of marital infidelity. Three weeks before election day, Burkett comes to the aid of a beautiful green-eyed lady, only to find himself alone and naked in a stranger’s home from which a priceless painting is missing. As the resulting scandal threatens to tilt the election, the painting turns up in a most unexpected place - and so does a dead body. Hired to defend Burkett and unravel the deepening mystery, Jack MacTaggert must traverse a minefield of ruthless politicians, felonious art dealers, swarming paparazzi, the amorous wife of Burkett’s billionaire opponent, her mobbed-up brother, and a district attorney with an old score to settle. With the electoral clock ticking and the press following his every move, Jack’s investigation leads him on a roller-coaster ride through the lofty heights and gritty depths of Southern California, lending new meaning to the adage that all’s fair in love and politics. 1. A journey of 38,000 miles begins with a single twist of the throttle. After six years of laying rubber on racetracks and immersing herself in the high octane, adrenaline pumping sport of motorcycle racing, Tiffani was yearning for something new from her life on two wheels.Fortunately (or unfortunately), losing her comfortable office job was the perfect opportunity to do exactly that.Twenty-eight years old, single, unattached, and now unemployed, she took her 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 and built the nimble sport bike into a make-shift adventure motorcycle. She packed it full of camping gear and set off on an adventure that she had always dreamed about. The problem? Tiffani had scarcely traveled outside her long-time home in Los Angeles, let alone with nothing but a tent and hope to keep her safe.Chronicles of a Motorcycle Gypsy is an inspiring tale of confronting fears, insecurities, and self- doubts for the sake of following your heart, all while discovering the many wonders of the 49 continental United States. Tiffani encounters some of the best and worst of humanity, meets a friend who eventually makes her journey a little less lonely, and puts all of her riding skills to the test, struggling with everything from her first time riding a sport bike in deep sand to getting caught in a blizzard in the Colorado mountains. It's a big world outside the racetrack! Originally published as a travelogue in Motorcyclist Magazine as Girl Meets World, this full-length memoir contains the untold stories and the details that were a little too racy for the blog.If you loved Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman's Long Way Round and Ted Simon's Jupiter's Travels, you'll love Chronicles of a Motorcycle Gypsy! 1. Come with us now to the first day of class to teach English in China. Both students and teacher's hearts pound with anticipation as students file into the room, chatting and pretending not to notice the foreign teacher standing behind his desk. But they can't help glancing at him anyway for a first look. Laughter mingles with the sound of books and chairs clanking together. A buzzer sounds in the hall, and Bill Burkett, affectionately known in China by his students as 'Mr. Bill', begins. A Manual for Teaching English in China takes us from the first day's buzzer through the first weeks, months, and semesters of teaching English in China, sharing numerous stories, laughs, interesting facts, and many effective ways of teaching ESL. A Manual for Teaching English in China is packed with Bill Burkett's practical ideas, methods, and teaching techniques that can actually be used to teach ESL anywhere. Bill Burkett recently returned from a seven year stint of teaching English in the universities and training schools of Henan, China. An internationally renowned public speaker, Burkett has lived in 46 nations in the last 43 years. He developed a strong interest in linguistics which was fueled by his close association with interpreters. In Chinese classrooms where he taught English, he conducted active research, experimenting and taking student polls. He concentrated on eliminating speech impediments and strong accents. His education, experiences, and research shaped his philosophy of teaching English as a Second Language and formed the basis of his first ESL book, A Manual for Teaching English in China. Following the manual is Secrets to Better English which reveals a proven method of teaching ESL without accent. Although Burkett's doctorate is in philosophy, his love is making a difference in his students' lives by teaching diction and the skills of speech.

This is Westbury in England in the mid-nineteen eighties and it's where, in a freak of nature, cells in the lung of a young man divided and produced embryos. What caused this developmental anomaly is unknown. Five of these embryos grew on to form fetuses. Now if Daniel Keyes had been, say, a carrot, rather than a man, this expression of totipotency would not have been unexpected. Already in the 1950's scientists had discovered how to stimulate somatic cells of the carrot root to produce embryos, embryos indistinguishable from their sexually produced counterparts. But Daniel was a man not a carrot and the appearance of somatic embryos in his lung was a shock. It was also Daniel's lot to be born and live in Westbury, where, just by chance, the two men with the knowledge and skills to rescue the fetuses and grow them on in vitro, also lived. One of them, Dr. Neville Burkett, was a world famous cancer surgeon. The other, Dr. Donald Sylvester, was a scientist well known in academic circles for his work on the culture in vitro of monkey fetuses. The two men were colleagues and had produced many research publications together. The story begins when Daniel seeks medical help for pain in his chest. In this imaginary Britain the National Health Service is an all-powerful, dystopian, bureaucratic, presence in society. Even minor functionaries in its employ enjoy enormous power. Patients and doctors alike are all forced to tread very carefully. Following detection of the fetuses one might have expected their disposition by abortion. But it was a small step for Burkett, with his strong pro-life views, to enlist the help of Sylvester in rescuing the fetuses and keeping them alive. Anyway, it's all forgotten now, of course - but this is what happened ......
